The village of Reeth has a population of about 500 persons and is situated at the junction of the River  Swale

and  Arkle beck.  It is 11 miles from Richmond and Wensleydale.

The nearest railway station is 20 miles away at Darlington.

A frequent bus service passes the station and  travels to Richmond (35 mins journey time).

From Richmond there are a few buses to Reeth  (timetable link on website)

These are approx two hourly.  This bus is run by a grant and the drivers are volunteers . A few buses continue higher up the dale.

The village is well provided for with shops, eating places and post office

There is a small market on the green most Fridays

There is a community centre where email facilities and tourist information is available.

Each cottage now has its own wi-fi access which is proving very popular, it allows mobile phone as well as

laptop / tablet connection.

As we have allergies ourselves, we try hard to provide cottages which are suitable for people who have the

same difficulties.   To our knowledge no pets have ever been in the properties.  We realise that this bars

guide dogs but we have built up a clientele who return year after year because of the pet free

environment and our great detail to  minimum dust.  Non allergen bedding can be arranged if requested

when booking

There is only EE and T mobile network coverage for mobile phones

Future Plans

Continue to retain our regular visitors and attract new visitors as sadly many regulars can no longer visit.

The discount offered to regular visitors in 2015 (our 50th year of running holiday cottages) proved very popular.  We are continuing the offer but

raising it to 5% .

A Notice board showing pictures of the cottages and site has been placed by the entrance gates with invitations for people to have a look round and

with BROCHURES for them to take away.  (very popular)

We are featured on trip advisor, VBRO, visit England, Simple owners and Independent Cottages

Nearly all bookings are made direct with ourselves so visitors do not have to pay agency fees, we can offer a personal service and make sure we

and our guests are compatible

We have visitor reviews on our website and links to our facebook and instagram pages

Written advertising is in the Visitor and  Dalesman magazine

 Build up our winter bookings.

Continue increasing cottage insulation and  now all cottages are itted with new electric heaters which  are proving effective

Continue to regularly update availability on the web site as this is proving highly effective.  A new website which can be edited on all computers is

now up and running.   Many regular visitors use the vacancy pages as well as new enquirers.  All data can be analysed on Google and Jimdo

analytics programs which help us to target advertising.

Continue updating cottages and adhere to covid safe practices

Maintain Wifi which this year has been upgraded so each cottage receives both 5 and 2.4 wavelength.  This is to increase security and avoid dropped signal
